Compatibility Mode is a tool in Internet Explorer that can be used to restore dysfunctional websites to their former glory. It’s a small button that appears in the address bar on the right.

When Internet Explorer has found some form of problem with displaying the website, the button above will appear (if it’s not there then IE10 doesn’t think there’s a problem). Once it’s been clicked the page will reload and everything on the website should work again as it’s been reverted to settings of a previous Internet Explorer version.
This tool is becoming increasingly useful as Microsoft continually changes the way Internet Explorer interprets web pages which for some features is different to how it did it previously.
